Introduction

BCS Jersey is an international section of the British Computer Society. Through a varied programme of events BCS Jersey aims to provide a local organisation for members of the BCS at all levels. Membership of BCS Jersey provides an opportunity to network and maintain contact with other professionals and to keep up-to-date with current related developments and issues both locally and generally.

It is the BCS Jersey's intention to raise the profile of the IT profession throughout the Island and to encourage and enhance career progression. Both existing BCS and new members are welcome to join BCS Jersey. If you are not yet a BCS member, then why not join now?

For further information about BCS Jersey, please contact the BCS Jersey chairman, Tim Bullock by e-mail - tim.bullock@mail.com

Jersey BCS AGM

This year's AGM was held on Thursday, 5th June 2008 and we are very pleased to report that we have a number of new, enthusiastic committee members and that Tim Bullock was confirmed as the new Chairman.

Next events

The Jersey BCS is working on developing an exciting programme of events for the coming year. We have no fixed dates yet, but a lot of good ideas and we will publish details as soon as they are available. For an outline of some of our events, please see our events page.

Some comments from people attending previous events (see the past events page for more details) -

  • 'Thought the governance presentation was super, just the sort of stuff I'm interested in' [IT governance - why we need it today, 26 October 2006]
  • 'Just a brief note to say that the talk last night was very informative. The presenter's delivery was relaxed and certainly showed his in-depth knowledge of the subject and his experiences in the industry.' [Mobile security - the real issues, 15 February 2007]

Committee meetings

The BCS Jersey committee meets on the first Thursday of each month. The venue may vary and will be advised to committee members in advance of each meeting.

Visiting members should contact the Chairman to confirm the venue and time.

Non-members are welcome at most events, which will normally be publicised on this web site in addition to the local media in Jersey.

Location

Highlands College is often used as a venue for BCS Jersey events. It is located in the Parish of St. Saviour and is about 20 minutes walk from the centre of St. Helier or a few minutes by taxi. Please use this site map (PDF) if you need directions for events held at Highlands College.

Neighbouring Branches

The nearest UK branch of BCS is the Hampshire Branch. There is also an international section of the BCS in Guernsey.

Other Branches

BCS Jersey also has established communications with the Isle of Man BCS International branch.
