January 2008 BCS Jersey Chairman resigns Brett Sumner, chairman of the Jersey BCS has announced that he will be moving to New Zealand in February and therefore has resigned from the committee. Tim Bullock has kindly agreed to take over until formal elections in May. The Jersey BCS wishes Brett and his family all the best for the future.
17 September 2007 Press Release about the 50th Anniversary Lecture now available. Professor Nigel Shadbolt, President of the BCS, visited Jersey in July and shared his vision of the future of the web with members at the 50th Anniversary dinner held at the Pomme d'Or Hotel.
19 August 2007 Jersey BCS in summer recess After the excitement of the web competition, Jersey BCS is now taking a break to enjoy the summer sun(!)
26 June 2007 Results of Schools' website design competition announced. In a fun, noisy and exciting ceremony held at the Jersey Arts Centre and compered by Channel 103's Peter Mac, Professor Nigel Shadbolt, BCS president, presented the prizes to the winners of the schools' website competition. Many fantastic prizes were awarded with the overall winners, Mont a l'Abbe school, receiving a colour photocopier.
May 2007 BCS recognises Jersey chairman Congratulations to Brett Sumner, Chairman of the Jersey BCS as he is awarded his fellowship.
28 January 2007 Membership update BCS Jersey membership now stands at 205.
5 December 2006 Membership update BCS Jersey membership now stands at 200. A major milestone has been achieved.
16 November 2006 2006 BCS Awards for academic endeavour Highlands College IT students Kurt Le Quesne, Tim Herbert and Nelson Teixeira were awarded with Highlands College IT Curriculum Awards for academic endeavour in AVCE, BTEC First Diploma, and BTEC National Diploma Year 1 respectively. All three awards were sponsored by BCS Jersey.
14 September 2006 Jersey Schools Web Competition launch The BCS Jersey Schools Web Competition was launched today and a special competition website has been published to explain the rules of the competition and how to enter. More details about the launch are available in this press release (PDF format).
31 August 2006 Home user and small business security advice Home and small office users can now get advice on information security and related subjects from a new section of the BCS UK website.
14 August 2006 Events programme The BCS Jersey committee is now in summer recess and will resume developing the events programme during September and October, with a target to produce a new events calendar by the end of November.
11 July 2006 Web design competition Chairman Brett Sumner announces BCS Jersey plans for a schools web design competition to be launched in September. For further details see the JEP article of 11 July 2006 in PDF format (reproduced by kind permission of the Jersey Evening Post).

30 November 2005 BCS Award for academic endeavour Highlands College IT student Philip Quenault was presented with the 2005 Highlands College IT Curriculum Award for academic endeavour. The award was sponsored by BCS Jersey, and the chairman Brett Sumner said "This is a truly fantastic achievement. It's great to see such commitment and that Philip's talents are already being put to use and contributing towards the community".

3 November 2005 Membership update BCS Jersey membership has now reached about 160 - more than three times the number in November 2003.
12 May 2005 BCS Jersey achievements The highlights of BCS Jersey's achievements during 2005 are highlighted in the Chairman's annual report which was published at the AGM held on 12 May 2005.
March 2005 ITNOW article by BCS Jersey member An article by BCS Jersey member Roger Bisson describing the threat to web application security from 'SQL injection' was published in the first issue of ITNOW - the re-branded publication for BCS members. Other BCS Jersey members who feel that they have something to contribute may want to follow this good example.
26 October 2004 Academic achievement for BCS Jersey member BCS Jersey committee member Jensen Nixon has become one of the first three students using the BCS Professional Examination as a major stepping stone to a BSc Honours degree through a new scheme from Southampton Institute. Read the article from Computer Weekly for further details of how Jensen achieved his qualification.

1 May 2004 BCS Jersey status The Chairman has been successful in his strategy to move the Jersey sub-branch to an independent overseas section. On the 1 May 2004 the Jersey sub-branch became an overseas section of the British Computer Society.-
